Mayor-elect Flanagan-Kennedy team starting to take shape

Mayor elect Judith Flanagan – Kennedy has selected three members of her city hall leadership team.

They are: chief of staff Claire Cavanagh and mayoral aides Jean Francois Gardy and Tracy Brown.

Cavanagh has had a long and successful history at Lynn City Hall, working previously for four former Lynn mayors – Patsy Caggiano, Walter Meserve, Tony Marino and the late Patrick McManus.

She was McManus’s chief of staff.

Mayor elect Flanagan-Kennedy described Cavanagh as efficient and energetic.

Word of her pending appointment was received positively in nearly all political quarters throughout the city.

Lynn State Representative Robert Fennell described her as a true professional.

“She knows what she’s doing and she understands the city and how things work at city hall,” he said Saturday morning.

“She’s a good choice,” he added.

Indeed.

The mayor-elect is very enthusiastic about Cavanagh.

“Claire knows her way around city hall better than anyone,” Flanagan-Kennedy said.

Ms. Cavanagh, who is presently a senior member of the Lynn Department of Public Works, said she is excited about going back to work in the mayor’s office.

She told the Jounral Monday that she never thought she’d get the chance again to work in the mayor’s office after finishing with McManus 8 years ago.
