Mayor Judith Flanagan-Kennedy has named Patricia Barton to head the city’s Licensing Commission, replacing John Pace, whose term had ended.
At the same time, the mayor replaced License Chairman Richard Coppinger, naming Barton chairwoman.
Coppinger said he would continue serving with Barton and Michael Phelps.
The mayor said she wasn’t looking for specific points of view when she appoints commissioners.
She said she has not asked Barton how she would vote on the 1:00 a.m. closing time if the issue came up to extend it to 2:00 a.m., again.
The city council is scheduled to vote on Barton’s appointment next week.
Barton’s term will span 6 years.
Barton is a part-time Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration employee.
She was formerly an English teacher and vice-principal in the Lynn Public School System for 35 years.
