Angela Dorothy Maleszyk

Angela Dorothy Maleszyk of Murfreesboro Tennessee, formerly of Lynn, died suddenly on October 22. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Maleszyk was born in Lynn, graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1943, earned an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and retired from GE Aircraft Engine Group as a weight analyst.  She was active in Northminster Presbyterian Choir, Singing Singers, Great American Sing Along, Church Women United and St. Rose Ladies Guild and the Polish Legion of American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post 56 and St. Hedwig Society. She was a volunteer at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Murfreesboro, TN, and when living in Lynn, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford.

She was the daughter of the late William and Cassie (Pietrowski) Pingle; wife of the late Edmund Maleszyk who died in 1985 and sister of the late Cassie H. Stalonczyk. Mrs. Maleszyk is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and her husband, John Stephen Schroeder of Murphreesboro, TN and her son, William Maleszyk of Derry, NH. She was the beloved grandmother of Karla Schroeder of Denver and is also survived by her Godson, Robert Maleszyk of Wilmington, MA; her Goddaughter Carol Chase of Ladson, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Local arrangements were by the Nadworny Funeral Home, Lynn.

Ruth Kassoy

Ruth (Cohen) Kassoy of Swampscott and Marblehead, formerly of Revere, died on October 26 at the Jewish Rehabilitation Center-Swampscott. She was 92 years old.

Born in Winthrop and a resident of Marblehead for 55 years, she was educated in Revere Schools and was the Co-Owner of Crown Cosmetics. A member of the Marblehead Garden Club, Sisterhood of Temple Israel in Swampscott and Hadassah, she was an avid Bridge and Mah Jongg player.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Kassoy; devoted mother of Dr. Gerald Kassoy and wife, Felice, Alane Gardner and her husband, Lester, Iris Fulton and her husband, Grant and Eric Kassoy; loving daughter of the late Max and Sadie (Janofsky) Cohen and dear sister of the late Goldie Broomfield, Evelyn Goldberg, Charlie Carroll and Charlotte Green. She was the loving grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of two.

Funeral arrangements were by the Torf Funeral Chapel, Chelsea. Burial was in Sudilkov Cemetery, Fuller Street, Everett. David Francis Mei

Sports enthusiast

David Francis Mei of Lynn died suddenly on October 6. He was 57 years old.

Born in Winthrop and raised in East Boston, he had worked as a mason, a school bus driver and a cook. He loved his Red Sox and Patriots, and played sports when he was younger.

He was the husband of Dawn Marie Mei and was very loved by her. He is also survived by two brothers, Eric and his wife, Julie Mei of Winthrop and John Mei of Rhode Island; his nephew John Eric Mei of Winthrop; four step children, Chris, James, Michael and Julie, and several cousins.

A private service will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 8 Common St., Lynn on November 5 at 9 a.m. Memorial donations may be sent c/o Goodrich Funeral Home 128 Washington St., Lynn, MA 01902.
