Duo Indicted in Roxbury Homicide

Two North Shore men have been indicted in the May shooting death of 33-year-old Steven Fuentes in Roxbury, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley.

The Suffolk County Grand Jury on Thursday returned indictments charging George Ortega, 29, of Lynn, and Anthony King Solomon, 32, of Everett, with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in Fuentes’ May 24th homicide.

Both men have been held without bail since their arraignments in Roxbury District Court. Ortega faced arraignment on Sept. 7 and Solomon was arraigned on Oct. 25th. The indictments move their cases to Suffolk Superior Court, where they – like all homicide cases – will be adjudicated.

At the district court arraignments, Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum said Fuentes and Ortega squared off as if to fight in front of Fuentes’ Leyland Street home around 7:40 p.m. the evening of the murder. According to prosecutors, a man later identified as Solomon handed Ortega a gun immediately before the shooting.

Michael Schultz is the DA’s assigned victim-witness advocate. Ortega is represented by attorney Barry Wilson. Solomon is represented by John Courtney. The defendants Superior Court arraignments have not yet been scheduled.
