Luciano ‘John’ Cordova
Lynn Sanitation and Parks Department Retiree
Luciano J. “John” Cordova of Lynn died November 27 in Union Hospital after a long illness. He was 96 years old.
The beloved husband of the late Helen F. (DiPietro) Cordova, he was born in Lynn, the son of the late Luciano and Pasqualina (Girizzo) Cordova. He attended Lynn Schools, was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, enlisted in the US States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he spent more than 32 years as a City of Lynn employee in the Sanitation and Park Departments. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of Local #93.
He leaves his daughter, Frances Cordova of Lynn and is also survived by five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James, Paul, Peno, and Salvatore Cordova, Madeline Gangi and Frances Naimo and the father of the late Joanne Backstrom.

Sara Boyd
A Caring and Loving Woman
Sara E. “Betty” (Duran) Boyd of Lynn died November 28 in the Lahey Clinic after a long illness. She was 95 years old.
The beloved wife of the late Henry R. Boyd, she was born in Woburn, the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Connolly) Duran. She attended Woburn Schools and lived in Woburn until moving to Lynn at the age of 18.
She enjoyed playing bingo and the lottery. Above all, she enjoyed the time spent with family. She was the best mother and a wonderful grandmother. A caring and loving woman, she did anything for anyone and always put others’ needs before her own. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves her children, James G. Boyd of Exeter, NH, Joseph F. Boyd and his wife, Cindy Varney of Effingham, NH, Robert H. Boyd and his wife, Diane of Nottingham, NH, Patricia E. Skoglund and her husband, Mike of Inverness, FL and Marilyn J. Gately and her husband, David of Woburn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters.

Paul Nicosia
Retired Bar Manager
Paul D. Nicosia of Bellevue Avenue, Winthrop passed away suddenly at home on November 4. He was 64 years old.
Born in Lynn, the beloved son of the late Margaret (Barret) and Anthony G. Nicosia, he lived in Lynn before moving to Winthrop more than 35 years ago. Before his retirement, he was employed as a bar manager for the New England Oyster House and Jeveli’s restaurant. He was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks and the Cottage Park Yacht Club.
He is survived by his brother Nick Nicosia of San Leandro, California and by several cousins. Services were private. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop.

Kevin Casey
Of Lynn
Kevin S. Casey of Lynn died in the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a long illness. He was 61 years old.
The beloved husband of Rita J. (Dow) Casey, he was born in Lynn, the son of the late Russell N.S. and Barbara A. (Horak) Casey. He attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for Local #6 Asbestos & Pipefitters for six years and also spent 15 years as laborer at Pine Grove Cemetery. He was a member of the D.A.V. and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Kevin S. Casey, Jr. of Lynn. He was the brother of Russell Casey and Susan DeFelice of Somersworth, NH and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Scott A. Casey.
