Chakoutis Announces Her Candidacy for Lynn City Council

Pine Hill resident Dianna Chakoutis has taken out nomination papers for the Ward 5 seat on the Lynn City Council.

“I’ve been out getting signatures and I’m halfway there,” said Chakoutis, who is making her first bid for elective office.

Chakoutis said she has been involved in various organizations such as Pine Hill Little League, Pine Hill Civic Association, and Sewell-Anderson School PTO.

“I’ve been involved in different things for the city of Lynn and I want to see everything stay the way it is as when my kids (Michael and Lauren) grew up in the city,” said Chakoutis, a Lynn Tech Class of 1984 graduate. “I have a granddaughter coming up in to the school system now.”

Chakoutis, who is manager of Old Tyme Italian Cuisine restaurant on Boston, said she has begun campaigning door-to-door in the ward.

Chakoutis has been married to her husband, Nick Chakoutis, for 27 years. Their son, Michael, played baseball at Classical and for American Legion, while daughter Lauren played softball in the Babe Ruth program.

“I’m excited to run for office,” said Chakoutis. “I’ve been getting a committee together and we’re going to start campaigning.”

Brendan Crighton currently holds the Ward 5 seat on the council but he has moved to another area of the city, which means that there will be no incumbent in the field.
