Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC, hawccdv.org), a domestic violence agency serving 23 communities on the North Shore has announced the opening of its new outreach office in Lynn, at 20 Central Street, Suite 505.
The office is located near MBTA bus service and is within walking distance of the Lynn Commuter Rail Station. The office is staffed with community and youth outreach advocates, a legal aide and a hospital based-staff member who covers Union Hospital in Lynn and North Shore Medical Center in Salem.
During Fiscal 2013 HAWC provided services to 1,144 adults and children from Lynn. The services included advocacy, one on one counseling, legal assistance, support groups and shelter.
While most people contact HAWC via the 24-hour hotline, 1-800-547-1649, the Lynn office is open to accommodate walk-ins from 9a.m. to 5 p.m..
Also located at 20 Central Street is HAWC partner, the North Shore Rape Crisis Center.
