Although the North Shore Navigators weren’t able to reach their goal of winning the Futures Collegiate Baseball League championship, it was, from all perspectives, a very successful season for the team who plays its home games at Fraser Field in Lynn.
The Navigators created much excitement and brought considerable enjoyment to the thousands of fans who attended their games this season.
Each game is an event unto itself with its various promotions, the various local teams being honored by the Navigators, and the between-the-innings contests in which children love to participate. And thanks to the generosity of Ralph Sevinor of Wayne Alarm, the fireworks shows were a big hit with fans.
We haven’t even mentioned the great baseball that was played by these outstanding collegians and (soon-to-be-collegian) Kyle Devin of Lynn, who represented our city and the North Shore so well in their travels to other ballparks in the league.
We congratulate former Navigators player Tyler Gauthier of Lynn on signing a professional baseball contract with the Tampa Bay Rays organization – which was certainly a dream come true for the former Wyoma Little League, Lynn Babe Ruth, and Lynn Classical graduate.
We join the Lynn community in thanking owner Patrick Salvi, general manager Bill Terlecky, assistant general manager Ashley Laramie, team manager Jon Cahill, director of media relations Joe Gill and all of the Navigators employees and interns for bringing such a great product to our city that families can enjoy together on a summer night.
We look forward to next summer and the return of the Navigators to Fraser Field for the 2014 season.
