LHAND staff preparing to distribute turkeys and gift cards to 1,200 local families for Thanksgiving

United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley and the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development came together to distribute bags of food and gift cards to 1,200 families in the Lynn for the Thanksgiving holiday.

LHAND was one of 13 sites to which the United Way of Massachusetts Bay provided asssitance. The United Way geared up for the project by gathering donations, forming partnerships and enlisting volunteers to pack and organize more than 100,000 pounds of food to distrubute to 5,000 families in 13 communities. The Lynn project was made possible by the United Way, LHAND staff,  Jamie Cerulli from Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy’s office, Kate Luchini from the Lynn Museum and volunteers from Lynn Economic Opportunity and the Lynn Boys and Girls Club.

“We were excited to work with the United Way this year. There are a lot of families in the area struggling and I am glad we were able to provide some assistance,” said LHAND Executive Director Charles Gaeta. “I want to thank the volunteers that came out to help with the distribution.”
