Amber Siriani has trained in boxing and she’s now’s ready to step into the ring.
But the 18-year-old Lynn resident won’t be fighting. Instead she will be carrying one of the round cards inside the ring after winning the American Fighting Organization (AFO) Ring Card Girl Contest Saturday night at The Greatest Bar in Boston.
“I was very excited to win,” said Siriani, a 5-foot-6-inch, 120-pound brunette who has done modeling.
Siriani will be making her debut as a ring card girl at the AFO’s first mixed martial arts boxing show in the spring. A tradition in the sport of boxing for a long time, ring card girls inform fans what round is upcoming by carrying large, numbered placards into the ring.
Siriani, who attended Lynn schools, advanced through a semifinal round of modeling competition to qualify for the finals that featured 10 contestants and a panel of celebrity judges including former New England Patriots lineman Matt Chatham and former New England Patriots cheerleader Reia Briggs-Connor.
“I was pretty nervous going into the finals, but once I got there and saw how nice and understanding everyone was, it made the competition much easier,” said Siriani. “Everybody was very outgoing and it made me feel really comfortable.”
Siriani wore a fashionable black dress for the contest and her style, stage presence and personality were well received by the many spectators in attendance at the popular establishment located near the TD Garden.
“I chose black for my attire because I feel the MMA and ring card girl has the sexy, dark look to it,” said Siriani. “That’s the look I was going for.”
Siriani has met AFO president John Ruiz, former world heavyweight champion, and she’s looking forward to doing promotional work and performing her role as an official ring card girl.
“I can’t wait for the first show,” said Siriani. “I know there will be a lot of people there. I’m going to get the crowd going.”
Siriani said she is seeking other modeling and promotional opportunities. “That’s my long-term goal. Hopefully I can get noticed and get out there and do promotional work on the side because it is something that I do enjoy.”
While boxing is still a hobby, she also enjoys ten-pin bowling. “I love to bowl. I go bowling at least twice a week.”
Amber is the daughter of Lisa Siriani and Gary Morris.
