Thank You, Coach Fred Hogan

It was a stunning announcement, to say the least, when Lynn English girls basketball coach Fred Hogan, walked into the Will McDonough Press Room at the TD Garden and announced his resignation following his team’s loss to Braintree in the state semifinals.

Coach Hogan truly built an outstanding girls basketball program in his nine years at the helm. His teams always played hard and became the undisputed top program in the Northeastern Conference.

This season was truly special as the senior class, led by Catherine Stinson, Diondra Woumn, Deidra Newson, and Makayla Everett, took their team on a 25-0 ride before eventual state champion Braintree ended their season.

We say, thank you, coach Fred Hogan, for working so hard to make Lynn English an outstanding program and for making the sport of basketball such an enjoyable and productive experience for every player.

We’ll be following your English basketball alumni in college in years to come and that’s a tribute to your efforts as their head coach, mentor, and friend.

We hope you’ll be continuing to work in the coaching profession because you certainly have a lot more of your knowledge and inspiration to give to other student-athletes.
