LACC to Hold Women in Networking Series

The Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce 2015 Women in Networking Series will kick off on Monday, March 30th with “History & High Heels” featuring Lynn Native and New York Shoe Designer Paula Koumoundouros at the Lynn Museum and Historical Society, 590 Washington Street, Lynn, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. R & L Associates, Inc. is the lead sponsor for this event.

Attendees will enjoy an incredible night of networking from 6:00pm – 7:00pm that includes a complementary glass of champagne, light appetizers, chocolates and chocolate fountain provided by The Chocolate Truffle, fruits and crudités’ and a cash bar of beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. The formal program will be from 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

 Koumoundouros is currently working for The Global Brands Group- Jimlar;  as a private label designer for Macy’s in NYC. Jimlar Corporation, founded in 1956, has spent more than 50 years as a footwear industry leader. The company designs, sources, distributes and markets footwear and accessories under its own brand and also provides design and sourcing services for many clients under their own brand names like Calvin Klein and Coach.

Koumoundouros has also worked professionally as a footwear designer for Sam Edelman; as a color and material designer for Converse Inc. and worked as an assistant with Marc Jacobs on his runway collections. She attended Northeastern University for graphic design and graduated with a BFA, Fashion Design & Art History from the Massachusetts College of Art & Design.  She attended Lynn Public Schools, St Pius V Junior High and Bishop Fenwick High School.  In her teenage years she worked at her family’s business, Angelina’s Sub Shop.

“March is Women’s History Month and what better way to celebrate than in the Shoe City itself,” says LACC president/CEO Leslie Gould. “We’re expecting a great night of networking and excited to hear Paula’s story about how she broke into a challenging and competitive industry.”
