Halloran Family Has Raised $75,000 for NLG and Autism Speaks

The Halloran family of Lynn hosted its 9th annual Comedy Night to Benefit Nashoba Learning Group and Autism Speaks on Sept. 29 at the Montvale Plaza.

One-hundred-and-seventy guests enjoyed a buffet dinner followed by an all-star comedy show hosted by the incomparable Don Gavin.

The comedy night has raised more than $75,000 in the nine years that Paul Halloran has organized the event. Halloran is a master event planner and the director of Harry Agganis All-Star Week that has become the preeminent sports gathering for graduating athletes in the region.

In addition to the host Gavin, who peppered the audience with witty quips and impeccably timed one-liners, Christine Hurley, Frank Santorelli, Steve Sweeney, Patty Ross, Tony V (who also served as auctioneer), Jilly Dunn, Steve Halligan, and Larry Lewis performed comedy routines during the show.

The proceeds in the past have gone to Nashoba Learning Group and Autism Speaks. This year the Hallorans added NEADS, the organization that provided daughter, Martha, with a service dog.

The Halloran family would like to than Don Gavin for again coordinating the impressive list of comedians, all of whom donated their time.

“We’d also like to thank our loyal friends and family,” said Paul. “We had about 170 people at the event and probably 75 percent of them have been to more than half of the nine shows. Their ongoing support is what makes the event a success every year.”
