North Shore Community College (NSCC) has received its eighth consecutive designation as a Military Friendly School by the national organization Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The designation honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
The Military Friendly Schools media and website, found at www.militaryfriendly.com enables student veterans and prospective military students to review more than 4,000 schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill tuition benefits, as well as schools that have earned the elite Military Friendly Schools designation.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 earning the designation.
“This coveted designation very publicly illustrates NSCC’s commitment to serving veterans and their families,” said NSCC President Patricia A. Gentile. “NSCC has a long tradition of providing education and training to veterans and current members of the armed forces who are seeking to learn new skills and translate experience in the military to civilian life. We are committed to providing the highest quality services, resources and programs to meet the unique needs of this vital and growing student population,” she said.
