The Cummings Foundation’s 25 Million Grant Program awarded $100,000 to be awarded over three years to Camp Fire North Shore. Camp Fire was chosen from a total of 590 applicants after a comprehensive review process.
Cummings Foundation Executive Director Joel Swets explained, “Camp Fire is an incredible organization that we fund; Camp Fire does the actual daily work to educate children, fight for equity, and so much more.” The Cummings Foundation has awarded more than 300 million to greater Boston nonprofits.
Executive Director of Camp Fire North Laurie Hamill was so elated and honored to receive this grant as she said, “We are one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit youth development organizations. We achieve our mission by offering a variety of high-quality programming that includes remote learning support, service learning for teens, club programs, and a summer day camp.”
Camp Fire North Shore, Inc. was established in 1960. It maintains an office in Lynn and a program facility in Salem where they have been operating since 1970. The Woburn-based Cummings Foundation, Inc. was established in 1986 by Joyce and Bill Cummings; the grant program has grown to be one of the three largest private foundations in New England.
