Belinda Sirignano, 94

Member of St. Joseph’s Society and Sons of Italy

Belinda ( Paterna) Sirignano of Boston’s North End died on Christmas Eve. She was in her 94th year.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Society of the North End and the Order of Sons of Italy Lodge 208 Boston.

She was the loving mother of Annette Manfra and her husband, William, of Lynn and Carmine Sirignano and his wife, Paula, of Billerica; dear sister of Josephine Nunez of Revere and Angelo Amato of East Boston; cherished grandmother of Joseph and Stephen Trevisone and Paula and Cheryl Ann Sirignano and cherished daughter of the late Stefano and Angela (Carmisciano) Paterna Amato.

Funeral arrangements were by Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, Revere. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

Mary Howard, 88

Special Needs Activist

Mary L. (Knight) Howard of Goffstown, NH, formerly of Lynn, died December 22 in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was 88 years old.

The wife of the late William C. Howard, she was born in Alberta, Canada, the daughter of the late Roy and Mildred (Simmons) Knight. She grew up in Beverly, graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1939, and lived in Lynn for most of her life.

She was a founder of the North Shore Association of Retarded Citizens, and was active with the Greater Lynn Mental Health and Retardation Assn., now Bridgewell. She was also a member of the Citizens Advisory Board of the Department of Mental Retardation.

She was a member, avid supporter and volunteer at St. Stephens Memorial Episcopal Church, Lynn, a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary Peabody Chapter 100 and was involved with the Yankee Division. She was also a member of Cats & Rats.

She leaves her children, Kathleen Parry and her husband, William, of Goffstown, NH, William C. Howard, Jr. of Chelmsford and Robert H. Howard of Lynn; three brothers Irving, Earl and Francis Knight, all of Beverly and a sister, Ruth Pitzer, of Richmond, VA; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late June, Agnes and Beatrice and Russell Knight and grandmother of the late Dustin Howard.
