Four-hundred-and-thirty GE employees gathered at the plant’s walking path today and engaged in a 30-minute, instructor-led stretch-band workout, thus establishing an unofficial world record (pending verification) for the largest resistance-band group exercise.
Once the registration is validated by the World Records Academy, this activity will set a new world record in this category (current WRA mark is 270 participants).
“This is really significant on two levels,” said Area Executive & General Manager Maria Deacon, who helped lead the effort. “First is the planning and execution that enabled the team to create this world record. And second is the broader commitment to promote the overall value of good fitness.”
This anticipated world-record activity was part of the companywide HealthAhead celebration that took place at numerous GE locations around the globe throughout the week.
HealthAhead is GE’s initiative to help employees and their families lead healthy lifestyles, including working in a smoke-free environment, healthy food choices and nutrition labeling in cafeterias, access to fitness resources, strong on-site health education programs and more.
