Tara Johnson Friedman needs no introduction to the Lynn golfing community.
From her earliest years in Lynn through today, Tara has had a majestic presence at the Gannon Municipal Golf Course. She has gained much recognition for being one of the city’s best golfers, winning the Gannon Club Championship 14 times. As a coach, she has helped Lynn English High School golfers develop their skills and an appreciation for the game.
At Gannon, Tara has been a great teammate to club professional Mike Foster, who simply runs a great golf course, one that the whole city can be proud of.
As a player, coach, instructor, and valued member of Mike Foster’s staff, Tara has always conducted herself with the highest degree of professionalism and exhibited the supreme helpfulness for which the Gannon staff is known.
Tara said that one of the things she enjoyed most about her position at Gannon was volunteering her time for the club’s junior golf clinic held on Mondays during the summer. It was in the junior clinic that Tara got her start to what became a fantastic high school golfing career and continued after her graduation from Bridgewater State and entrance in to the teaching profession.
Tara has decided to retire from her position at Gannon. She will continue to serve Lynn schoolchildren as a beloved teacher at the Ingalls Elementary School.
Tara leaves a legacy of kindness and dedication to the Gannon Golf Course. She was essentially the club’s goodwill ambassador who had many enjoyable rounds herself at the course and helped younger golfers come to enjoy the game as much as she does.
We say, thank you, Tara Friedman, for all that you have contributed to the sport of golf in our city and thank you, Mike Foster, for giving her the opportunity for the past 29 years to further advance the sport and bring joy to the thousands of people who come to Gannon for a day of fun, relaxation, and competition.
