Manning Field Ticket Prices Could Be Rising

The Lynn Stadium Commission will soon vote on a proposal that would increase the cost of admission to events at Manning Field from $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students to $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. The proposed price change would also raise the cost of Thanksgiving day game tickets from $5 for everyone to $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.

According to John Kasian of Community Development’s Youth Services, the price increases would largely benefit the school department athletic budget, with only 20-percent of the anticipated increase going into a fund to maintain the stadium.

“We’re trying to keep (the prices) a little closer to what other stadiums charge,” said Kasian.

The price increase has the support of Community development office and the high school athletic directors.

With other area high schools currently charging students athletics user fees to play sports, the increase in tickets sales I being billed as one way to avoid such fees in Lynn.

In Saugus, athletic user fees for football and hockey are going from $350 per student, to $400 each and athletes on other teams will soon pay $375 per sport.

Other neighboring communities have fees that are applied per student, per sport with a family cap, usually over $1,000 annually.
