William Powers
Retired Electrician and Motorcycle Enthusiast
William E. Powers died unexpectedly on December 7 at his home in Anderson, South Carolina. He was 65 years old.
Born in Saugus on August 8, 1948, he attended Saugus Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Saugus High School and a 1970 graduate of Wentworth Institute of Boston. For more than 20 years, he worked for the Peabody Municipal Light Plant as an electrician until his retirement in 2012 when he moved to South Carolina. Prior to the move, he lived in Revere for about 10 years but the majority of his life was spent in Saugus.
He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm having served 24 years ith the Army National Guard. His memberships include the Saugus American Legion Post and VFW and he was also a Past Exalted Ruler of the Saugus Lodge of Elks. Mr. Powers was a motorcycle enthusiast and member of the Hampton Seacoast Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda J. (Hemeon) Powers and was the beloved father of: William E. Powers, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Epping, NH, Jennifer and Janine Powers, both of Saugus, Kim M. Catizone and her husband, Michael of Pelham, NH and Cheryl L. Cimino and her husband, Sandro of West Peabody; the cherished grandfather to: Ashley, Nicole, Kaley, Samantha, Joseph, Cole, Cheyenne and Nicholas. He was the dear brother of Jacqueline Howard and her husband, Donald of Saugus and is also lovingly survived by his great grandaughter, Cassidy and by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Ireland and by his many friends and extended family in Anderson, South Carolina.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Revere. Interment was private.
