Lynn, the largest community in the Sixth District, was a Tierney stronghold in the 2012 election.
“I am confident that the citizens of Lynn and the entire District would be best served with Richard Tisei as our next Congressman, and I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy,” Mayor Kennedy said. “As a member of the majority party, Richard will give us a seat at the table when important decisions affecting Lynn and the rest of our state are made.”
During his time in the Massachusetts State Legislature, Tisei built a reputation as an independent problem solver who helped pass some of the most important laws in the Commonwealth’s history. Tisei helped draft a comprehensive welfare reform law, helped pass education and healthcare reform laws, and sponsored and passed a whistleblower protection bill for healthcare workers.
“As the minority leader of the Massachusetts Senate, Richard consistently fought for fiscal restraint and was a resolute advocate for the disabled, elderly, and children,” Mayor Kennedy said. “With a background as a successful small business owner as well as a committed public servant, Richard is eminently qualified to represent the Sixth District.”
Tisei said he is running for Congress so he can support local communities.
“You tell me what Lynn needs and I will work my hardest to get it,” Tisei told the mayor at this morning’s event. “With the Mayor’s support and the support of Lynn’s leaders, I am confident we can help the people of this city comfortably live, work, and raise families right here in the Sixth District.”
