Let the Shopping Begin:Wal-Mart Opens at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

Once the turkey and stuffing and all the pies have been consumed, once the dads and grandfathers and small boys have had their fill of Thanksgiving Day football and before dawn has come, stores across the state and right here in Lynn will be opening their doors to some of the largest shopping crowds of the year.

That’s right, Black Friday – that modern start to the Holiday shopping season – is this week and from all appearances, one of the places that figures to see a great deal of Black Friday shoppers is here in Lynn at the Wal-Mart on the Lynnway.

Certainly other retail stores and outlets will be open on Friday or earlier, and many will see large crowds of shoppers looking for deals. However, in recent years Wal-Mart has been one of the retail chains that has drawn the most attention and the largest crowds for their Black Friday activities.

This year, Wal-Mart has already announced that their store hours for holiday shopping will begin at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, despite the fact that so-called “Black Friday” deals have already begun in stores and on the company’s website.

In addition to the early shopping hours at Wal-Mart, Lynn shoppers will be able to fund holiday shopping deals across the North Shore without going near the malls, including at Target stores in Revere and Salem, Home Goods, Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores in Swampscott and Salem, Game Stop stores in Salem as well.
