17-year old Emmanuel Marrero of Lynn was charged on Monday by a Suffolk County Grand Jury with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, five counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, six counts of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by discharging a firearm stemming from a March 6 shooting in Chelsea, which left a Chelsea teen dead at the scene and six others injured.
19-year-old Pablo Villeda of Chelsea was shot and killed in the incident, which took place in an unoccupied apartment in a building at 120 Washington Avenue in the early morning hours of March 6.and six other party-goers were also injured.
A second teen, Efrain Vega, 17, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm for his participation in the incident.
Chelsea Police responded to 120 Washington Ave. for multiple calls of a disturbance at a party in a vacant apartment. Inside, officers found seven victims, whose ages ranged from 15-22, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Villeda was taken to Whidden Hospital in Everett where he died from his injuries. Surviving victims were treated at Whidden and Massachusetts General hospitals.
State and Chelsea Police detectives identified Marrero as the gunman and arrested him the next day. Vega’s role was revealed through further investigation.
Marrero is scheduled to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on June 29. Vega will be arraigned in Chelsea Juvenile Court on July 11.
