Mieses named to Dean’s List at Bates

Abraham Mieses of Lynn, was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for the fall semester ending in December 2021. This is a distinction earned by students whose grade point average is 3.92 or higher.

Mieses, the son of Jose O. Mieses and Rosario E. Fresco, is a 2019 graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School. He is majoring in neuroscience and mathematics at Bates.

Local Residents Named to Dean’s List

The following local residents were named to Clark University’s Fall Dean’s List:

Savior B. Watts, of Lynn, was named to second honors.

Seth Joseph Bird, of Lynn, was named to first honors.

James A. Claffey, of Lynn, was named to second honors.

Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors.

Mishel Awarded Degree from Miami University

Mishel of Lynn,  was among students from Miami University who received degrees during the fall commencement Dec 10, 2021

Mishel graduated with a Master of Arts degree, majoring in Biology.

Poste Initiated into Omicron Delta Kappa

Jocelyn Poste, a native of Lynn, was recently initiated into the Union College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. The Society welcomed 265 new initiates from 9 universities during January 2022.

Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

Omicron Delta Kappa Society, the National Leadership Honor Society, was founded in Lexington, Virginia, on December 3, 1914. A group of 15 students and faculty members established the Society to recognize and encourage leadership at the collegiate level. The founders established the ODK Idea-the concept that individuals representing all phases of collegiate life should collaborate with faculty and others to support the campus and community. ODK’s mission is to honor and develop leaders; encourage collaboration among students, faculty, staff, and alumni; and promote ODK’s leadership values of collaboration, inclusivity, integrity, scholarship, and service on college and university campuses throughout North America. The Society’s national headquarters are located in Lexington, Virginia.
