Ward 5 City Councilor Dianna Chakoutis will not seek re-election

Ward 5 City Councilor Dianna Chakoutis told the Lynn Journal that she will not be seeking re-election in the 2025 city election.

A lifelong resident of Ward 5, Chakoutis was first elected in 2013 and has been victorious in each of her subsequent runs for the office.

Chakoutis, who is widely admired throughout the city and a popular manager at Old Tyme Italian Cuisine, also served a Council vice president during her tenure. She has also won plaudits from constituents for her accessibility and accountability.

Chakoutis has been a highly visible official during her tenure, displaying strong support for local organizations and attending civic and social events.

In fact, Chakoutis was on hand for the John Hoffman Way naming ceremony Monday honoring the longtime Lynn TV sportscaster.

Chakoutis is the second councilor to indicate their intention to not seek re-election to the City Council. Council President Jay Walsh has also stated that he will be stepping down from the Council and not be a candidate for re-election.
