Edwin Vargas of Chelsea died suddenly on July 30.

He was the father of Edward Vargas of Lynn.

Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Mazzarella Memorial Home, East Boston. Burial was private.

 

Norma Dorfman

Retired US Postal Service Secretary, past president of Weight Loss Tops of Lynn

Norma B. (Halper) Dorfman, a Revere resident for more than 40 years, died on August 5. She was 82 years old.

Born in Hartford Ct., she was past president of Weight Loss Tops of Lynn, a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School, Boston and a a retired secretary for the U.S. Postal Service. She was also a graduate of Academie Moderne-Model finishing School, a charter member of Hadassah, a member of the Sisterhood of Temple B’Nai Israel of Beachmont and Congregation Tifereth Israel of Revere.

She was the beloved wife of the late Saul Dorfman; devoted mother of Sherri Zand of West Palm Beach FL. and Lisa Dorfman of Revere; loving companion of Philip H. Dublin and the dear sister of the late Norton Halper.

Michael Shea

Accountant

Michael Shea of Rowley, formerly of Lynn and Chelsea, died on August 4. He was 63 years old.

He was an accountant for U.S. Food Service in Peabody and previously worked at Honeywell-Bull in Billerica.

He was the husband of Irene (Moore) Shea and brother of Mary Tibbetts of Lynn.

Cecilia ‘Ceil’ Manzi

Retired Whidden Hospital C.N.A.

Cecilia “Ceil” (Manganiello) Manzi of Everett died on August 3. She was 73 years old.

Mrs Manzi was a retired C.N.A. at the Whidden Hospital, Everett.

The beloved wife of the late Theodore “Teddy”, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Marie Manganiello; sister of Charles J. Manganiello and his wife, Nancy, of Pennsylvania and the late Raymond Manganiello and his surviving wife, Marie, of Revere; aunt of Kim (Manganiello) Walsh of Lynn and Joseph and Nicholas Manganiello, both of California.

Rose Frances Mellace

Former Walgreens Clerk

Rose Frances (Naples) Mellace of Wellesley, formerly of Swampscott, died on August 4. She was 78 years old.

Born in Lynn, she was a clerk at Walgreens in Swampscott for 17 years and a member of St. John’s Sports Club of Swampscott.

She was the beloved wife of Anthony Mellace of Wellesley; devoted mother of Virginia Mellace of York, ME, Toni Ann Mellace-Murray of Roxbury, CT and Theresa Marie Levine of Wellesley; dear sister of John Naples of Saugus, Virginia Fichera of New Hampshire and Anna Celentano of Saugus and cherished grandmother of Justin, Christopher and Sarah Linn.

Carmela Silvestri

Lynn resident

Carmela (Falcucci) Silvestri of Lynn, formerly of East Boston, Groveland and Revere, died on August 3.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Silvestri with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; loving mother of Anthony Silvestri and his wife, Janice, Assunta O’Keefe and her husband, William, and Maria Perez, all of Lynn and Rosario Silvestri and his wife, Deborah, of Groveland; dear sister of Anthony Falcucci of Roslindale, Evelyn Simmons of Gloucester, Rose Falcucci of Florida and the late Leonard and Antoinetta Guliano; cherished grandmother of Francesco, Anthony, Michael, Tonimarie, Nicholas, Christina, Paul, Tim, Billy, Amanda, Jesse, Rebecca, Ryan and Angela and seven great grandchildren.

Natalie Gatto

Revere resident

Natalie Gatto of Revere, formerly of East Boston, quietly and peacefully in her sleep on August 6. She was 100 years old.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Revere Smart Set Seniors and several other Revere senior groups.

She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Rochina (Tramonte) Gatto; sister of the late Rose V. Gatto, Anna M. Fitzgerald, Natale Gatto and Carmen Gatto and his late wife, Mildred; devoted aunt of Vincent Gatto and his wife, Ann, of Aiken, S.C., Camille Gatto and Barbara Albers, both of Swampscott, and Elizabeth Roble and her husband, Andrew, of Lynn. She is also lovingly survived by eight grand nephews and nieces and 17 great grand nieces and grand nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107), Revere Wednesday, August 11 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere at 10 a.m. Visiting hours are today, Tuesday only, from 4 to 8 p.m.
