Bars Open Longer on New Year’s Eve

The Licensing Board has voted to allow bars to remain open until 2 a.m. on New Years Eve. This is a good decision. It is likely not to hurt anyone and will give bar owners a break on the biggest celebration night of the year.

We are not sure that the Licensing Board is construed in such a way to be absolutely fair about who can stay open and who can’t, as the decision to allow bars to remain open will be given on a case-by-case basis.

That being the case, we are fairly certain the Licensing Board will examine the records of the individual bars looking to remain open.

If they are free of complaints and repeated infractions, they will get the extra time.

If they aren’t, one imagines they will not be granted the chance.

This is a decent plan.
