Lynn man on trial for killing mother

A Lynn man who stabbed his mother to death in Revere almost 2 years ago is set to stand trial in Suffolk Superior Court.

Jury selection is set to begin this week.

Corey Roche of Lynn, 25, is charged with first degree murder in the death of his mother, 42 year old Lisa Bryson Roche.

Corey Roche, according to prosecutors, stabbed his mother to death following an argument about his tax return.

Roche was shot by police officers when they came upon him holding the knife he had used to stab his mother.

The incident took place on Fernwood Avenue Revere on Feb. 25, 2008.

The mother was rushed to the Whidden Hospital in Everett where she died.

Roche was taken to the Massachusetts General Hospital where he was treated, subsequently released and sent to jail.

Roche apparently stabbed his mother because she failed to help him fill out his tax return.

Roche is represented by attorney Robert Wheeler.

Judge Charles Spurlock will preside.

Assistant District Attorney Mark Lee, deputy chief of the district attorney’s Homicide Unit, will try the case.
