Mary MacDonald

Died after long struggle with Alzheimers Disease

Mary E. (Finnegan) MacDonald died in Revere on April 9 following a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease. She was 88 years old.

She was the wife of the late George W. MacDonald; devoted mother of Brian K. MacDonald and his wife, Janice of Lynn and Barry T. MacDonald of Revere; cherished grandmother of Meaghan M. Walsh and her husband, Timothy of Cape Coral, Florida and Evan M. MacDonald of Lynn; dear sister of Thomas Finnegan and his wife, Anna Louise of Saugus and the late Kathleen T. Mackay, Margaret DeBeasi and Eileen Clifford. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Nicholas Luongo

Past Commodore of Lynn Yacht Club

Nicholas R. Luongo of Revere died on April 8.

The Past Commodore of the Lynn Yacht Club and a US Army Vietnam veteran who served for many years in the Massachusetts National Guard, he was the beloved husband of Lynn (Atkinson) Luongo; loving son of Ida (Giangrande) Luongo of Revere and the late Nicola Luongo.

Helen Paull

East Boston Resident

Helen (McDonough) Paull of East Boston died on April 12.

She was the beloved wife of Charles Paull; loving mother of Virginia Jordan and her husband, William of Revere, Charles Paull and his wife, Ebeth of New Hampshire, Kathleen Drohan and her husband, Kevin of Revere, Charlene Scarpa and her husband, Mario of Lynn and Cheryl Granara and her husband, Thomas of East Boston; dear sister of Thomas McDonough of Revere, Bertha Santoro of East Boston and the late Myles McDonough; cherished grandmother of 11; great grandmother of 10 and the late Bobby Goggin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, Revere.  Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to the Chelsea Jewish Foundation, 165 Captain Row, Chelsea, MA 02150.

Anthony Cataldo

Retiree of Pride-Lincoln-Mercury of Lynn

Anthony G. Cataldo of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on April 13 following a brief illness. He was 89 years old.

A US Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Revere Council-Knights of Columbus, he was a retiree of Pride-Lincoln-Mercury of Lynn.

He was the beloved husband of 61 years of Frances L. (Marino); cherished father of Domenic A. Cataldo and his wife, Gail of Phoenix, AZ and Cynthia L. Chipman and her husband, Kenneth R. of Revere; devoted grandfather of Nicholas A. D’Angelo of Revere, Tony Cataldo of Phoenix, AZ, Janelle Morales and her husband, Guillermo of Jacksonville, NC; dear brother of Mary Tranfaglia of Winthrop and the late Carmen Cataldo and is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte 107) Revere. His funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 18 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach Street and Winthrop Avenue) Revere at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
