Mary Page

Active in Many Winthrop Organizations

Mary Ann (Hoffman) Page of Winthrop died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on August 23. She was 80 years old.

Mrs. Page was a member of the Winthrop Catholic Woman’s Club, T.O.P.S., Winthrop Senior Center and a former member of the Sea Side Tappers.

The beloved wife of the late Charles R. Page, she was born in Winthrop, the daughter of the late Carl E and Helen J. (Rowan) Hoffman. She was the devoted mother of Marianne E. Chandler of Lynn, John J. Page and his wife, Katherine of Winthrop, Paul F. Page of Lynn, Maureen A. Preble and her husband, Joe of Hampstead, NH and Charles G. Page and his wife Lisa of Swampscott; loving sister of the late John R. Hoffman, formerly of Winthrop and cherished  grandmother of 15.

Funeral arrangements are by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church, Winthrop on Wednesday, August 9 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Cross St.). Robert Swerling

Of Lynn, fornerly of Winthrop

Robert Swerling of Lynn, formerly of Winthrop and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida died on August 20.

A US Army veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Berenson) Swerling); devoted father of Gary Swerling and his wife, Gloria, Paul Swerling, Stuart Swerling and his wife, Leonora; dear brother of the late Meyer Swerling, George Swerling, Ida Novins. Rita Pearlstein and Gerald Swerling; loving grandfather of Lisa, Wendy, Amy, Bradley, David and Jonathan and great-grandfather of Lucy and Samuel.

Graveside services were held at Sharon Memorial Park. Gary Michael Lee

Died by Accident

Gary Michael Lee of Lynn, formerly of Malden and Everett, died by accident on August 20. He was 54 years old.

One of seven children, he graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1976 where he played on the basketball team. He was an alumni of University of Massachusetts Amherst.

He worked at Suffolk University in Boston for many years. He had a passion for music, especially jazz and blues and was an avid chef, sports enthusiast and had a deep love and respect for the ocean.

He is survived by his long-time partner Joy Joliffe and his parents Elisabeth Owens and Carl and Elizabeth Freeman. He was the brother of Paul Lee and his wife, Margaret, Rosalind, and Michelle Lee, Dorian Howard, Cheryl Logan and her husband, Russell, and Martha Owens; the uncle of Margaret, Regina, and Francis Lee, Kendall and Cameron Logan and Tyrell Owen. He is also survived by many friends and family.
