Lynn Democrats to Caucus Feb. 8

Lynn Democrats will hold a caucus at the Lynn Housing Authority Community Room, 10 Church Street on Saturday, February 8, 11:00AM (doors open at 10:15AM; registration closes promptly at 10:45am) to elect 50 delegates and 21 alternates to the 2014 Massachusetts Democratic Party Convention that will be held on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14 at the DCU Center in Worcester.  At that time, Democrats from across the state will vote to endorse candidates for the United States Senate, Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Attorney General, Treasurer and Auditor.

“This is going to be an exciting year as we build on our recent successes and prepare for the 2014 elections,” said Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman Senator Tom McGee.  “Caucuses are the next step in growing our community organizing strategy for victory.  People who were part of candidate campaigns in 2012 and 2013 have the opportunity to become part of their local Democratic Party organizations.  Anyone interested in any of the statewide campaigns can attend their local caucus and learn how to get involved.”

The Caucus is open to anyone at least 18 years old and registered as a Lynn Democrat as of January 31, 2014.  The number of delegates eligible for election is:  Ward 1 (8); Ward 2 (7); Ward 3 (7); Ward 4 (7); Ward 5 (7); Ward 6 (6); Ward 7 (8).  Delegates will be divided equally between men and women.  All ballots will be written and secret.  Those not elected as Delegate or Alternate who meet the qualifications may apply to be “add-on” delegates in the following categories: youth, minority, and disabled.
