Retired Richdale Convenience Store Owner and former Computer Company Manager
Timothy A. Perris died following a long illness at his Haverhill residence on October 28. He was 85 years old.
Born and raised in Greece, he served in the Greek Army and came to the United States in 1957. He married Demetra (Jenis) of Lynn and the couple lived briefly in Lynn before moving to West Peabody for five years. They left Massachusetts and took up residence in Queens, New York where Mr. Perris entered the computer programming profession. He quickly rose in rank to become manager of the computer company for over seven years.
Upon returning to Massachuetts, the couple set up home in Groveland where they owned and operated their own “Richdale’s” – and were early pioneers in the convenience store industry. The couple ran their business for 40 years until retiring in 2009 when they moved to Haverhill.
Mr. Perris was a member of the AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) and a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Lynn. Both Mr. and Mrs. Perris have also been long time members of Holy Apostles, St. Peter & St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill.
Mr. Perris was the beloved husband of 60 years to Demetra (Jenis) Perris); the cherished father of Nina Katsos and her husband, Louis, of Mansfield and Paul T. Perris and his wife, Pauline of Biddeford, Maine; the devoted grandfather of Christina A. Katsos and her fiancee, Salil A. Tamhane of Evanston, Illinois, John T. Katsos of Charlottesville, Virginia, Stephanie D. Katsos of Oakton, Virginia, Joanna E. Katsos of Chestnut Hill and Brent A. Perris of Amesbury. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Greece. He was the son of the late Apostles and Nina Perivoliotis.
