Don White Plays Hometown Show at Lynn Auditorium

Don White plays his home turf Thanksgiving weekend with a bevy of special guests, including several from Lynn. The festivities kick off with a meet and greet in the lobby at 5:30, where Don and the musicians will mingle with family and friends. Music starts at 7PM with a special opening set featuring Don’s guests playing their own music. Then Don takes the stage for a solo set of music, mirth, and storytelling before calling the musicians back up to join him.

Guests include Pete Capano, Steve Burke, Jack Phelan, Alan Hezekiah, Brian Maes, Christina Thompson Lively and Everette Pendleton, plus Don’s son Lawren. There will also be a silent auction to benefit Arts After Hours, furthering Don’s commitment to helping the local arts scene in Lynn continue to blossom.

Don’s happy to be able to feature his friends in the opening set and show off some homegrown acts in a venue that hosts big national touring acts like Brian Wilson and Melissa Etheridge. “I want to give people an idea of what kind of talent there is around here,” Don says. And he’s especially looking forward to the meet & greet after doing it at his last show at Lynn Auditorium in 2014. “It was amazing how many old friends came and saw each other for the first time in years,” he says.

There is no one-word description for what Don White does. He has survived and thrived for twenty five years, bringing his audiences to laughter and tears in his live performances, studio recordings, and on the printed page. He is a storyteller-comedian-author-troubadour-folk singer-songwriter.

White started out as a songwriter and took a detour through Boston’s swinging comedy scene in the early 90s before coming back to the city’s venerable folk scene with a whole new approach. White now had the toolkit of both songwriter and club comedian.

A graduate of Lynn Classical class of 1974 White has long headlined his own emotional and uproarious shows, and he’s shared the stage with legends like Arlo Guthrie, Taj Mahal, Ritchie Havens, and The Band. Since 2008 he has been touring North America with Legendary Singer-songwriter/Comedienne Christine Lavin in a show called The Funny Side of the Street. In 2017 he will be performing with nationally renown storytellers Bill Harley and Bil Lepp in a new show that takes a comedic look at the lives of Dads called Father’s Daze.

He has released six studio albums, two live albums, a greatest hits collection, and a joint live album with Christine Lavin, as well as three DVDs and his autobiography, Memoirs of a C Student. His latest DVD, Once More.. With Feeling, and his new CD, More Alive, are available now atwww.donwhite.net and www.nimbitmusic.com/donwhite.
