Alice Longo

Loved her Role as a “Stay at Home Mom”

Alice G. (Fabian) Longo, a lifelong Revere resident, died on August 2 following a brief illness at Rosewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Peabody. She was 95 years old.

Born and raised in Revere, she attended Revere schools and was a 1938 graduate of Revere High School.

Mrs. Longo was what one would classify as a “stay at home mom,” a role that she loved and epitomized.  Born on June 1, 1918, so many women of that era were indeed equal, if not excelled, their male counterparts as members of “the greatest generation.” Their inimitable style in the discharge of their responsibilities as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend are legendary. Although the majority of these women viewed their role as “not extraordinary,” they were, indeed, often the force behind the success of their husbands and children and such was the likeness of Alice C. Longo.

She was the wife of the late husband, Edward H. Longo, Sr. (they were married in 1938 and he died in 2003 after their 65th wedding anniversary); the cherished mother of: Carol A. Longo of Lynn, Edward H. Longo, Jr. and his wife, Victoria of Wakefield and John B. Longo and his partner, Steven Clark of Chatham; the devoted grandmother of: Lori Joyal and her husband, Paul of Sudbury, Edward H. Longo, III and his wife, Laurie of Westboro,  Debra Longo of Salem and Jennifer Hickey and her husband, Christopher of Wakefield; the dear sister of Doris McCarthy of Revere, Frank Fabian of Rhode Island, Edith Palmer of California, Phyllis Lee of Virginia, Barbara Ventola of New Jersey and the late Carl Fabian and the late Beatrice Cortese. She is also lovingly survived by five great grandchildren: Timothy, Jeffrey, Olivia, Emily and Benjamin and by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Private services and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett were held with arrangements by the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals of Revere. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 275 Grove St., Newton, MA 02466. For more information, please visit: www.vertuccioandsmith.com
