With Labor Day now behind us – the unofficial end of summer – come and gone, parents across the city and their children will be heading to school Wednesday morning for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
According to the School District Calendar, which is posted on the district website at www.lynschools.org, the school year officially opens at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, for all students in grades 1-9.
Grades 10-12 will begin on Thursday, September 5 and Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will begin on Monday, September 9.
The 17 public schools in Lynn will re-open their doors to approximately 14,000 students this fall, based on the school enrollment figures from the end of last year.
Another important date for parents to keep in mind is Tuesday, September 17, which will be the first early dismissal day of the school year.
