Atkaterini Panagiotakis Koudanis has scheduled a campaign fundraiser at the Brick Yard Bar and Grill for tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 23) at which time she will announce her candidacy for state representative in the Eleventh Essex District including West Lynn and Nahant.
“I’m expecting a good crowd of people with diverse backgrounds,” said Koudanis. “I will be announcing my candidacy for state rep at the kickoff event [on Wednesday].”
Koudanis, 40, was a candidate for Lynn Councilor-at-Large last November, finishing eighth in the election with 1,656 votes. The top four finishers were elected to office.
Koudanis joins School Committee member Charlie Gallo and Councilor-at-Large Brendan Crighton in the race for the seat previously held by Steve Walsh. School Committee member John Ford is also expected to vie for the seat.
Koudanis is a 1991 graduate of St. Mary’s High School and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology. She works as an independent consultant.
The slogan for Koudanis’s election campaign is “Bringing the Good Home.”
“Right now I’m focusing on the issue of saving Union Hospital,” said Koudanis. “I’ll begin campaigning for the [state representative] seat soon.”
Koudanis is married to former Bishop Fenwick star athlete Arthur Koudanis, who played college football at Bentley University.
