Anderson considers his choices in professional basketball

It’s decision time for former Memphis basketball star Antonio Anderson.

The Lynn Tech graduate is considering offers from European professional leagues, but he may land with a team in the National Basketball League Developmental League (NADL).

“I’ll know by the end of the week,” said Anderson, who lists Greece, Spain and Italy as possibilities for pro ball overseas.

Anderson came very close to earning a spot on the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats roster. He suited up for NBA exhibition games with the Bobcats and was one of the team’s final cuts.

“It was a great experience,” said Anderson, who has attracted interest from other NBA teams, including the Atlanta Hawks.

Lynn residents have followed Anderson’s career at Tech and at Memphis, where he led the Tigers to a berth in the Division 1 national championship game. They will be happy to hear that the 6-foot-6-inch guard will be continuing his basketball career.

“I will be playing pro ball – I just don’t know where yet,” he said.

Anderson was in attendance at the East Lynn-West Lynn Pop Warner football games Sunday at Manning Field.
