The Gannon Golf Course is ready for the 2104 season.
David Sibley, certified PGA Professional, welcomed golfers to the course for their first rounds of the new season. Saturday was the official opening day for the course and its new leadership team, Golf Facilities Management Inc., which also oversees Hillview Golf Course in North Reading and the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.
“The golf course is in real good shape starting the year,” said Sibley. “The winter treated us pretty well. We’ve removed the snow and we’re playing all 18 greens.”
Sibley expects that approximately 400 members will join the club, matching last year’s enrollment.
The first tournament of the year will be held during the first week of May. There will men’s and women’s club championships in August along with other traditional annual singles, doubles, and member-guest tournaments. The junior golf instructional clinics will also continue this summer at the course.
“We’re really looking forward to the season,” said Sibley. “It’s been a long time coming. The winter was tough. We’re open for our membership and the public,” The dining room and grille and the 19th Hole are open.”
Sibley said memberships to Gannon are available to Lynn residents and non-residents.
