Lynn Votes Today: Clerk Estimates Approximately 15,500 Voters to Head to Polls

Approximately 15,500 voters are expected to head to the polls today across the city, as the campaigns for Mayor, City Council and School Committee finally come to a head and voters have their say about the future direction of the city.

City Clerk Mary Audley said last week that she is expecting a 30-percent voter turnout, which based on the 51,352 registered voters would mean 15,406 voters at least.

The polls open today at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. when voting ends.

Incumbent Mayor Judith Flanagan Kennedy is facing City Council President Timothy Phelan in her effort to win re-election, as Phelan tries to convince residents the city could be doing better.

Voters can call 781-586-6805 to find out where their polling location is.

In addition to the Mayor’s race, there are races for At-Large City Council, School Committee and Ward Councilor in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
