Unless the Governor or the Speaker of the House blinks, there will be no expanded gambling in Massachusetts and no slot machines in race tracks as well.
After quite a bit of legislative energy being put into the matter, the only thing coming of it is a big row of zeroes – no expanded gambling. No casinos. No slot machines. No added tax revenues for the state treasury.
What Massachusetts taxpayers got is a classic example of how the state government in Massachusetts fails to work positively in order to finish important legislation.
Oh well, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun will continue to benefit from the estimated $700 million a year that is left there mostly by Massachusetts residents.
